About the founder

The story behind Shipbird.

Growing up in Nepal, I didn't think of American stuff as "American." I just thought of it as the stuff I couldn't get. A pair of jeans. An Xbox. Things everyone else seemed to just have.

So I did what everyone did: I asked. A cousin flying back from a trip. Can you bring me a pair of jeans? Any chance you've got room for an Xbox in your bag?

Then I moved to Australia, and later the US, and the message flipped. Now it was my friends and family in Nepal and Australia asking me: can you bring this back, can you order this and mail it, do you have space in your suitcase.

In 2015, I saw a better way than waiting on a cousin's suitcase. I started a company shipping US orders straight to Nepal. No flight home required, no favor to ask.

Shipbird is that same idea, built for everywhere. Not just Nepal, not just people who happen to know someone with a US address. Wherever home is now, Kathmandu, Sydney, Bangkok, Mumbai, you should be able to buy from the US the same way anyone in the US does.
